Another city bell ringing at the Cannes
'Another one bites the Cannes'? Well, 'Kandahar' will be not the only film making to Cannes from Kolkata. Film 'Bell Bajao' by Bauddhayan Mukherji has made it to the Short Film Corner of the festival.

'Bell Bajao, or Ring The Bell,' is in line to compete with other entries from Holland, Mexico, UK and USA. The director of the film is a former student of South Point and has set up his own production unit Little Lamb Films a couple of years ago. Bauddhayan had created the film for a New York based NGO - Breakthrough. The film is a series of three one-minute films and has already won an award at the Goa-fest 2009, two golden awards at the Indian Documentary Producers Association Awards and a Community Engagement Award at the Media That Matters festival in New York. The campaign encourages community residents to take action when they become aware of domestic violence in their neighborhood.

The boy from the city of joy will be very proud to make it to the Cannes along with Mrinal Sen. He is keeping his fingers crossed for another big award in his campaign against domestic violence.
